Re: Sanctuary Ceiling Collapse
On the night of August 7, 2026, the entire ceiling of our church’s sanctuary collapsed. We are most grateful that while the sanctuary has sustained great damage, no one was present and no one was injured. Our hearts are full of relief and gratitude when we consider what might have been.
We believe that church is the people who gather to worship, who spread the Word and unconditional love of God, who shine His light and live with hope. Our sanctuary is not “the church.” Our building will be “resurrected”, and invitations and offers are bringing many
blessings that we can only now imagine. As shocking and overwhelming as the destruction is, the outpouring of love and support from many of our local faith communities, the people of Putnam, and neighbors in the Quiet Corner is astounding. We will rebuild. We will continue to extend our hospitality and welcome in new ways. We look forward to seeing what new things God has planned for us! We thank everyone for their prayers and support as we move forward.
